Bascule (Tumble)

Wood, metal, concrete, plastic (FDM 3D printing)
160 x 135 x 65 cm

Sculpture inspired by rotation devices (mills, propellers …), seesaw (teeter-totter) and a memory of a double pendulum I saw in a scientific exhibition. Double pendulum is an interesting mechanical device, which is sometimes used as a good demonstration of chaos theory because of its movements unpredictability. In Bascule, there is in some way 2 “double pendulums”. Symmetrical, turning around the same axis, being of same length and same weight, all vanishes in a circular, relatively harmonious and absolutely non-chaotic movement …

In Bonus collective exhibition, each artist was invited to make a “bonus” piece. In this context, I proposed a small double pendulum.
